Re: Choosing clamping limit in VPL rendering

Many thanks ingenious for the response. I am also looking at your other papers on the subject, great work!

Choosing clamping limit in VPL rendering

Hi all, I was looking at the IGI algorithm for VPL rendering. A well known issue is the spikes\singularities resulting from a high Geometry factor in the rendering equation. The issue is well laid out by Simon Brown at his blog: "The second issue is a problem because the optimal b (one that rem...

Re: LuxMark v2.0 released

Hi Dade,

I remember you mentioned sometime ago that SLG(or luxrender?) relies on GPU for finding intersections only. Is that the case? does luxmark do the same or do you run the whole pipeline through OpenCL?

Thanks.

Posting approvals

Hello.. How many posts need to be approved before we can see our posts immediately on the forum? I understand it needs to be balanced with spamming blocking, but sometimes it takes a day or so to get a post approved so it is not very convenient. Shouldn't the first two posts be enough to tell spamme...

Re: Bidirectional related question

Thanks all for the useful input. Ingenious made a good case for path integral formulation, so I'll make sure to read that in more details next. in describing BRDF asymmetry due to refraction, Veach mentions that: "The main thing to notice is that the(eta_t/eta_i)^2 factor is not present in th...

Bidirectional related question

Hi all, In his book, Jensen has a short description of bidirectional path tracing in which he states that "it is important to pay attention to the fact light propagates flux, and not radiance". This sentence puzzled me long enough that I found no other way but to ask this beautiful forum. ...

How to deal with mesh emitters?

Hi, So regarding mesh emitters, should I treat them as mesh or as emitters? since they are intersectable meshes, they can be randomely hit with traced rays, however that would signifantly reduce convergce speed of direct lighting. They can also be treated as regular lights which get sampled and conn...
