Which anisotropic surface shading model are you using?

Hi guys,

I was wondering which anisotropic surface shading model you are using? I tried Ward's but can't find it as robust as I'd like.
Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Re: Ward tone mapping

Yes, but blurring works only if you tone map your image once it is done, not during rendering!

Re: Ward tone mapping

Hi, when I started implementing the Reinhard tone mapping operator, I just read the article source code provided here: http://www.cs.utah.edu/~reinhard/cdrom/ It's clear, simple and directly related to the paper. The only thing left up to the reader is how to compute the maximum image luminance robu...

Re: Ward tone mapping

Hi,

IMO, simpler and without any "magic", you can look at the widely adopted Erik Reinhard ("Photographic tone reproduction for digital images", pdf with source code online) tone mapping operator.
My 2 cents...

Re: Anti aliasing question, advices, councils...

@ingenious: doing so will remove blocking artifacts near high contrast areas
@Serendipity: if DOF and motion blur are the issues, you can still process them in 2d (with some additional layers) after the rendering

Re: Anti aliasing question, advices, councils...

Tone mapping parameters may need to be adjusted by the user after the rendering is done. So you may have to loop several times over the tone mapping and filtering passes after rendering. To do so, you have to store the whole image with all its sub-samples which quickly becomes impossible for product...

Re: Anti aliasing question, advices, councils...

Hi, correct me if I'm wrong, but is there still an interest for tone mapping if it's done before filtering and therefore can't be tuned after rendering? Moreover, most tone mapping operators need global image luminance measurements and can't be processed on a per-pixel basis before the whole image c...

to toshiya: you are probably be right, my sentence was not applying to MCMC in particular, but to quasi-random numbers in general.
