Re: Spam

I've tried to make a few posts (related to getting MLT working), none are getting through. I also would not like to be blocked/deleted. Sorry about that. Board needs some serious maintenance, and I didn't have time. Thesis defense in November. :) Thanks for fixing that. Also, good luck with the the...

Re: First attempt at Kelemen style Metropolis

The "stars" were a result of an uninitialised variable (well that's embarrassing). The contrast enhancement was due to a weighting problem, solved in this thread. Here's an updated fixed render: http://imgur.com/rbN1x.jpg Does that refraction look right? I'm using an IOR of 1.5.

Re: How to generate "transformed scalar contribution"

Never mind, I discovered that my use of the weights generated by the algorithm was incorrect. I simply multiplied the weight by the sample and accumulated, dividing by the total number of samples at the end, when in fact you should divide by the total weight. That explains why regions with average w...

How to generate "transformed scalar contribution"

According to Kelemen's Metropolis paper, the input I to the Next pseudocode function (in section 6) is the transformed scalar contribution I* ( u ). According to earlier in the paper, this is I ( S ( u ))/ p_S ( u ). But what is p_S ( u )? Underscore denotes subscript . Just using I as I* gives an i...

First attempt at Kelemen style Metropolis

As well as the title, this is my first attempt at a path tracer. My standard sampler code performs quite nicely, but my Metropolis sampler, which is copied nearly verbatim from Csaba's paper, is definitely wrong. It looks like old samples are contributing at new sample locations, or vice versa, and ...

Re: Glitch Pictures anyone?

Having meant to join this forum for a while, this glitch looks like a good reason: (You may need to right-click and view image to see the entire images) My first stab at Kelemen-style Metropolis: http://i.imgur.com/hbl8p.jpg Statistically correct (I think) reference made with normal importance-sampl...
