Re: Bezier surface models

Not offhand, but you could probably generate some from polygonal models (e.g., by converting to PN triangles or subdivision surfaces). I suspect there isn't much call for Bezier models, because if NURBS is more flexible for high-order surfaces. maybe i should switch to nurbs then.. im new in 3d gra...

Bezier surface models

Does maybe someone know how to find some free to use models in the form of bezier patches (the cubic preferably) Something like utah teapot but more, TNX

rasterization?

I know youre talking raytracing here but (as i think there are people here who are doing much high efficiency stuff here) i wonder if there would be an option to discuss software cpu rasterization a bit? I wrote simple soft scanline rasterizer in c and has a speed of about 30ms for 100thousand trian...

Re: coordinating raytracing with rasterizer

someone on different forum suggest that balls come into ellipses but triangle edges will stay linear, though depth z will not be linear, he belives that 1/z will be linear on triangle but is not sure... could someone here help with that?

coordinating raytracing with rasterizer

sorry for weak english i am only doing basic raytracing and not for a long time I had idea of combining raytracing with rasterization (for obwious benefits) but there is a simple basic stuff i am not sure with, so maybe some will help me I do raytracing by sending some simple rays (I assume my scree...

Re: newbie (about intersection tests and drawing pixels )

Indeed I thin it was good hint to check a ray-plane first - when i find about ray plane intersection there all the same over the net (some with two dots and one division) yet one question when I was asking some man on other forum he gave me such code // (bmin, bmax) -> corners of the AABB // (near, ...

newbie (languages)

This is a newbie question but I am curious what do will people say. Is there only one language that is appriopriate for realtime raytracing or more of them. Is this C or c++? Can java by used to compete with c/c++? (Once i was testing some double crunching algortihms in c and java and java was equal...

Re: newbie (about intersection tests and drawing pixels )

By quad i think something like parallelogram - think the cost of testing it should be about the same as 1 triangle not 2 triangles. As to link it has some info but I would like to get some ready to use code and spare to myself a month of searching it myself As to drawing methods, some you mention ar...

raytracing bezier patches..

You know the Newell teapot (also called a utah teapot), somewhat ugly thing, but good as an example of object. As far as I know it originally was designed as a set of bezier patches or something (about 25 or something like that). What exactly is the best kind ot 'patch' tu use here? is it a bezier p...

newbie (about intersection tests and drawing pixels )

[Hullo I an a newbie in raytracing, wrote very simple tracer in c, without space trees, reflection - just simple geometry and lights, it worked in realtime though.] Got two simple questions i am searching for some good intersection test routines can be used for raytracing figures (you know input is ...
