Nah I really want to keep this as simple as possible. Web maintenance is not my hobby; I just needed a solution for the disappearance of ompf1.
I do agree however that we could do with some kind of an objective blog with ray tracing news. Perhaps some frequent visitors can pick that up together; if we fill it with some of the stuff that pops up on Ke-Sen Huang, Ray Tracey's blog and google alerts that would probably yield a steady stream of interesting info.

there is news expansion modules to phpbb, just look around, to find some usable. you can just put two new columns, to the upper area of the site, and for some community members, you can give right to write and edit articles. if you want, i can write articles, i do that sometimes aniway.
