It's that time of the year again.. My students just completed the 'GRP1' course, which is a year 2 course in the IGAD program of my university (IGAD=International Game Architecture & Design). In this course, we explore ray tracing, and the final assignment is to build a ray tracer. This year they handed in some stunning work, with features like GPU rendering, millions of triangles, postprocessing, diffraction, SSS and so on. One student combined almost all of these in a single application. Anyway, part of the block is a 'pretty image contest', so I encourage students to hand in their very best renders, and I post them here, so you can vote which one you like best. This should ideally be separate from technical quality; it's just the 'prettyness' that matters here (although in practice that's hard to separate on this forum). So, here are the 10 contestants. Please cast your vote.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
